The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the swollen sea, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
