And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
