The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 By the House Frequented. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
