The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the lofty roof. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
