Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
