The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
