The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the declining star, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
