The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
