(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 Thamud, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
