Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
