HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
