The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
