The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
