The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
