The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
