The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
