The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
