The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
