The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
