(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
