The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
