The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
