Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
