Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
