The warnings came to the people of Pharaoh. 41 Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful. 42 ARE, THEN, those of you who [now] deny the truth better than those others - or have you, perchance, [been promised] immunity in the [ancient] books of [divine] wisdom? 43 Do they say, "We shall be victorious because we are united?" 44 [Yet] the hosts [of those who deny the truth] shall be routed, and they shall turn their backs [in flight]! 45 But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter. 46 The evil-doers are indeed sunk in error and folly -- 47 On the Day whereon they shall be dragged into the Fire upon their faces, it shall be said unto them: taste the touch of the Scorching. 48 Verily everything! We have created it by a measure. 49 It takes only a single command from Us (to bring the Day of Judgment) and that can be achieved within the twinkling of an eye. 50 We have indeed destroyed many a people like you. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 51 [They were truly guilty] because all [the evil] that they ever did had been [revealed to them as such] in the [ancient] books of [divine] wisdom; 52 And every small and great thing is recorded. 53 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and light, 54 in the seat of truth with an all-powerful sovereign. 55
