The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created the human 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
