The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
