The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
