The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
