The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
