The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
