The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
