The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
