The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
