The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
