The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
