The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
