The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
