The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
