The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
