The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
