The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
