So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly. 34 Have they not been created from some source, or are they themselves the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars. 49
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
