The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
