He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
