The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
