The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
