The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
