The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
