The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
